“What a truly wonderful place to be.”

The Garden

A semi-wild garden, fitting of its setting, with large lawn, patio and seating for 12, fruit trees and a great ‘rolly-polly’ slope, oh and a huge children’s play area. With views over the pond towards the woodlands, this is a wonderful place to relax and take in the sounds of the countryside. A BBQ is on hand for those summer evenings.

Woodland Play

Go explore ‘Henry’s Woods’ next to the Mill, paddle in the stream, find the dens and build your own! This is a great natural play area where sticks and a little bit of mud are essential. Keep your eyes peeled as somewhere there may be Dragons!

Walks

For those wanting to stretch their legs, grass paths lead you out on to the fields behind the Mill where you can stroll through long grasses alongside Hallington Burn. For those wanting to go further, the Mill sits on the St. Oswald’s Way and circular walks from the door take you up to Hallington Reservoir or nearby viewing points. Further afield, the Roman Wall provides fantastic views and numerous historical sites to explore.

Nature & Wildlife

We have many visitors on the land from roe deer, barn owls, foxes, hawks and buzzards, to name a few. In the burns you may spot heron and even king-fishers. Sit quietly and you will be rewarded.
